Current Registration: 81-CS (QLD)Make: One of the later versions of the C3 Corvettes made during the period 1968-1982. Assembled by General Motors Chevrolet at Bowen Green, Kentucky and previously at St Louis, Missouri. By 1981 there was only one power plant available namely a 350 (5.7 Litre). In 1981, chrome air-cleaner lids and cast magnesium valve covers dressed up all the engines, along with stainless steel exhaust manifolds and a computer control system. The cast aluminium wheels were then ordered standard on most of these cars, along with new options including a power adjustable driver’s seat and power remote outside mirrors.Features: Length is 185.3 inches (4.07m), width 69 inches (1.753m) and height 48 inches (1.219m), with a curb weight on 1.6 tonnes.This particular car was imported from the USA in 2009 and acquired by the previous owner, Tim Kirwood of Mooloolah Valley in 2010. The car was completely stripped down and repainted from original Artic White to its current GM Australia blue. The original 350 cu.i power plant was removed along with the clunky debilitating emissions control systems and a fresh custom built 350cu.i stoked to 383 cu.i plant fitted. Complete with 0.030* over sized Keith Black flat-top hypereutectic pistons, rings , bearings, oil pump, machined 4-bolt main bearing caps and crank (machine balanced), Speed Pro LTI valve springs, roller rockers, new Edelbrock alloy performance heads, Weland dual plane manifold, Holly Red electric fuel pump and Holley Street Avenger Aluminium 4 barrel carburettor with custom polished alloy rocker covers to suit the roller rockers.The new engine was coupled to a fully reconditioned T350 3-Speed auto gearbox with stage 2 shift kit and 1500 rpm stall converter.Other driveline upgrades include the composite mono rear spring optioned on late C3s, stainless-steel sleeved brake calliper and Centreline Convo Pros all round.The vehicle interior has been left in mostly original condition with a complete screw kit fitted throughout, centre-console renewed for functionally and all barrel locks replaced with certified GM replacements.Extensive re-wiring has been carried out to ensure reliability and functionality of key electrical systems including a new 140 Amp alternator, battery and cabling. New twin 12” Spal thermo fans controlled via Davies Craig digital relay set are coupled to a 3-core high volume alloy radiator ensuring the engine stays cool even on the hottest summer days in traffic.Acquired: May 2017.
